The biggest tip for losing weight is to be in a calorie deficit. How do you do that, you ask?

Well, here is a step by step guide to finding out how many calories you need to eat per day to lose weight.

1. Go to tdeecalculator.net

2. Fill out the form with your information. You can skip the body fat percentage if you don’t know it.

3. Click calculate and it will tell you what your maintenance calories are. Your maintenance calories are the amount of calories you need to eat per day to MAINTAIN your current weight.

4. Decide how much weight you want to lose per week. It’s recommended that you lose no more than 1-2 lbs a week. To lose 1 lb/week, you would need to eat 500 calories less than your maintenance calories each day. To lose 2lbs/week you would need to eat 1,000 calories less than your maintenance calories per day.

5. Subtraction time! Subtract 500 from your maintenance calories if you want to lose 1 lb, and 1,000 for two lbs per week to find your daily calorie goal.

Example: your maintenance calories are 3,000/day and you wanted to lose 1 lb/week, you would do 3,000-500= 2,500 (your new calorie goal per day).

I recommend updating your calorie goal every 10-20 lbs that you lose.
