California has a Vegan McDonald’s!

Yeah, you read that right. There’s a Plant-Based/Vegan McDonald’s! It’s called Mr. Charlie’s and it’s a fast-food chain imitating spoofing the style and menu of the famous McDonald’s chains, except it’s completely Plant-based and VEGAN!

It has 3 locations in California: one in Los Angeles, another in San Francisco and the other in Venice. I was able to visit the one in Los Angeles during my recent trip there during the summer, and it was such a unique experience!

I got a “Frowny Meal” that included:

• “Not Chicken Nuggets” & Vegan Mayo - ⭐️5/5 = they were crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, and the mayo was delicious. I loved them!!

• “Not a Chicken Sandwhich” & Fries - ⭐️4/5 = I ordered it with a gluten-free bun and it was kind of harder than I would’ve liked it to be, but the “chicken” was crispy and tasted pretty good, and the fries were great as well!

This place is obviously any vegan foodie’s paradise, with your favorite junk food galore, and although it’s a bit pricier, I absolutely love supporting this kind of unique concept. I particularly loved the idea of imitating the famous McDonald’s chain, but with a psychedelic touch and a twist of dark humor in its labels, menu and logo. The chain’s commitment to the community is inspiring as well, part of their mission being to employ people transitioning from homelessness, incarceration or addiction, all while promoting a plant-based lifestyle!

It was a really cool experience, and I hope they get the chance to expand! All I'll say is, “I’m hatin’ it”. 🤭🍔🍟✨
