I tried 3 popular Korean/Japanese sunscreens, namely the Skin 1004 Hyalu-Cica Watery Sun Serum, the Anessa Perfect UV Sunscreen Milk, the Bioré UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence, and here’s my review:

SLIDE 2: TEXTURE

As shown in the picture, the Anessa sunscreen was the most liquidy in texture, followed by the Bioré sunscreen which was more of a gel-like texture, while the Skin 1004 sunscreen was more of a lightweight cream texture.

SLIDE 3: SKIN 1004 SUNSCREEN

Rating: 9/10

What made me love this one the most was how it was super moisturising for my dry skin and how my makeup sat really nicely above it. After rubbing it into my face, it turns from a cream-like texture to a more watery texture. Additionally, there wasn’t any strong fragrance (which i hate as a sensitive skin girlie). Price wise, I recommend getting from their official store on Shopee to save 💲!! Link to sunscreen: https://s.shopee.sg/2fscSUIsvU

SLIDE 4: ANESSA SUNSCREEN

Rating: 6/10

I really wanted to love this one, especially because of how expensive this was (~$42). However, I must say it really fell short of my expectations, mainly because of the strong fragrance and weird texture of it. I disliked the powdery feeling it left on my face, and I felt that my makeup got cakey through the day really easily. BUT, I would say that if you can’t stand the greasiness from most sunscreens, then this might be for you (at a high cost tho).

SLIDE 5: BIORÉ SUNSCREEN

Rating: 3/10

While this was the most affordable among the previous 2 ($9.55 on Shopee: https://s.shopee.sg/9A66CnGOXX), what made me rank this the lowest was the really strong alcohol fragrance, which I felt was the reason why my face felt a little stinging after. If you’re a sensitive skin girlie like me, I wouldn’t recommend it for you. While the gel consistency was pretty lightweight and watery, I would not recommend it as a base before wearing makeup for long hours, as my makeup started separating mid-day. However, if you’re someone who prioritises a lightweight sunscreen AND you don’t mind the fragrance, I’d say this is a pretty affordable option.
