It’s so easy to lose yourself in motherhood. Once I got pregnant, I felt like a completely different person. It was no longer only about keeping myself healthy and well, but now I was thinking about keeping another entire human alive and healthy.

I learned very quickly that I was starting to forget about myself and only focus on the baby. So much so that my health was taking a hit.

I made a huge shift in my parenting and these are some ways I resurrected myself:

1. Realized that if I wasn’t healthy, I couldn’t keep baby healthy

2. Incorporated activities that I enjoyed too

3. Found a healthy hobby that would be possible to do while watching the children if needed

4. Immersed myself in the scripture

5. Began journaling

6. Asked for help when I needed help

7. Took time for myself

By doing all of those things, I was able to shift my mindset and realize that who I was as a person matters quite a bit in how my child sees life. If I continued being miserable and not having my own personality, what would that tell my children?

Remember that YOU matter and are just as important as who you are raising.
