hello! since winter is coming again soon, i decided to make this post!

if you’re going to kyoto, u may be considering wearing a kimono for the fun of it. you’ve prob seen lots of people going to korea and saying how it’s freezing cold to wear a hanbok in winter so u might be wondering if it’s the same for kimonos

i won’t be able to give u the full deets of the place i went to rent it bc my tour guide booked it for us☹️ so i can only tell u my experience~~

tldr? it’s not too cold wearing a kimono in winter, the material of the kimono is really thick and heavy so even without wearing thermal wear inside, i wasn’t cold. ngl i was pretty shocked at how it wasn’t cold when i stepped out and walked around

okay let’s begin w my experience!

when we walked into the store, we were greeted by the staff thereafter we were brought to choose our kimono colours. afterwards, they brought us upstairs and we were told to remove all our clothing and put on this thin set of layer of clothes and then go to another room where there’ll be staff to help u to put on your kimono. the staff that did my kimono pulled the sash so tight that honestly i think was what made it warm enough to go out and walk in the winter weather.

after we were done wearing the kimono, i paid extra for them to tie my hair up, there were many different styles to choose from but i just chose dutch braids (only bc i’ve always tied it myself and wanted to try having someone tie it for me but if you’re paying to do ur hair pls don’t get the dutch braids it’s not worth it LOL)

after all of us were done wearing our kimonos, we decided to get a photo package where they shot professional photos for us. i had never been on a photoshoot before prior to this so i didn’t know what to expect but they’ll tell u how to do the poses and all and it’s all js really professional

and thennn the fun part comes, i could finally go out into the town and walk around. it’s really really not cold at all, idk if it was because we weren’t out for a very long time but there were also many people in kimonos in the town and even at the bamboo forest. i guess you can put on your thermal wear inside if you’re more sensitive to the cold

okay idk if you’ll be able to find it but the place i went was called 📍SHIKI , their service was rly good and i’d 100% recommend but i tried googling and nothing much rly came up sooo..☹️

okay that’s all, thanks for reading!
