Career Talk: Not job hopping even after 3 years?🤷‍♀️

I’ve been seeing alot of posts on this platform about the perks of job hopping! I’ll share my perspective today about why i chose not to job hop so far😬 For context, i’ve been staying in my current job for almost 3 years and am not intending to change job any time soon!! Here’s why!

1) Great Company Culture + Colleagues

In my previous company where i stayed for a short 6 months, i met “snake” colleagues and a micro-managing boss and it was a bad experience🙃 So it was a refreshing change when i joined my company and everyone was so. Nice.🥹 Like i have not had a bad experience with anyone!! Everyone was caring and respectful and helpful☺️ Having awesome colleagues (and bosses) really make a whole world of a difference🙏

2) Fair Remuneration + Revenue Sharing

I’m not sure what’s the policy out there but it probably differs across individual companies and industries with regards to pay increments! For mine, there will definitely be an increment every year around mid year. The exact amount is based on performance which is fair! My company also gave everyone a raise end of last year to help tackle inflation, which i think is a really nice gesture! My bosses also put in place revenue sharing policies which helps us earn an additional 500-1k per month which is quite substantial! Not every company has revenue sharing so I definitely appreciate this initiative put in place by my bosses:)

3) Cross Check with Industry Standards

In the industry i’m working in, i think the amount i’m paid now is considered on the higher side already based on whatever i’m seeing on glassdoor so there’s really no reason for me to job hop😅 It’s always good to cross check with glassdoor to make sure you’re not underpaid! And if you are, that’s a reason to job hop!

4) Tasks are not stagnant and repetitive

It can be boring if the tasks you have to do yearly is repetitive and the same old ones. It also makes it hard for you to upgrade your skills and learn new things if that’s the case! So far for me while some tasks are repetitive, there are new projects too so there’s a good balance!

5) Disliking drastic changes

Honestly i’m someone who dislikes major changes😅 it can be refreshing to some but it’s mostly stressful to me🥲 So i will try not to job hop unless really necessary because i dislike the huge changes that comes with a new job, company culture and environment!😬
