So just before I came back to Singapore after spending 5 months in Korea, I thought to myself: “Wow I didn’t buy ANYTHING from Gentle Monster.” And I’m sure most of you would know by now that Singaporeans love heading to Korea to buy Gentle Monster because it is 1. Cheaper at retail price here and 2. We get tax free (which makes it even cheaper). And so I was thinking it would be such a waste if I don’t get anything right? So at the airport I did one last big purchase and that was to buy myself a pair of glasses at duty free and here I am giving you my review as to whether it was worth it or not.

A little bit more about what I got:

The model I got is Milan A KC1 and it has a round clear acetate frame, designed with a keyhole bridge and what’s cool is that the lenses aren’t just plastic, they are blue light filtering lenses with 99.9% UV protection.

So the reason why I didn’t wanna get sunglasses as what most people would get is because I already have quite a few from other brands and Gentle Monster’s frames can be quite funky so I didn’t know how much I would wear it if I did buy it. But for glasses I could always just throw it on whenever, indoors or out. Also keep in mind I made this decision out of impulse but I think it is one of the best purchase decisions I made in Korea.

What I love:

- It is a sturdy sturdy pair of glasses. I hate glasses which feel flimsy but this one has as solid feel

- The translucent khaki frame is something I dig a lot and if you realised I love wearing earthy colours

- The shape of the frame gives a more “studious” kinda look which I feel when paired with the right outfit, can elevate a look

- I paid $235 SGD for it at the airport store and it costs $352 SGD in Singapore!

- You have the option of changing the lenses to one with a degree

- 1-year limited warranty for any manufacturing defects!

What is meh:

- I feel like there is something about the lens that is reflective so when people take photos of me I realise I can see either my screen reflection, or just something being reflected which can ruin a photo (or when I am on Zoom calls, I can see my own screen in my glasses reflection)

I catch myself wearing this pair of glasses at work when I stare at the computer for long hours and I also wear it when going out and I wanna change up my look. Overall I think its worth it if you buy it in Korea/at the airport so do consider if you are there!
