8 Things To Do Alone In NYC

Spending time alone is not a bad thing - especially in a place like New York City! From relaxing in Central Park to exploring the art at The Met Museum, these are some of my favorite activities for when I want to spend time with myself. 🌆

1. Walk Through Central Park: best places to enter are 59th, 72nd, and 86th on the East or West Side. Walk along the paths, have a picnic, or take photos of spots form your favorite movies.

2. Visit A Museum: Most museums are free or discounted to NYC residents and students, and memberships definitely come with their benefits! Hit up The Whitney, MoMA, The Met.

3. Relax With a Book: Bring a book to the park, the seaport, or a cafe to pass the time - and watch passerby’s while you’re at it.

4. Explore a New Neighborhood: Its easy to get comfortable in the four blocks surrounding your apartment. Pick a neighborhood and stop into a new coffee shop, thrift store, or bar.

5. Take Yourself Out To Dinner: It can be scary at first, but eating alone is freeing. You may even get a drink or appetizer on the house!

6. Pretend To Be A Tourist: This one may be controversial. When living in NYC gets overwhelming, seeing families flock to Times Square or The Brooklyn Bridge reminds me to be grateful that I can live here.

7. See a Broadway Play: No speaking. No phones. It’s like watching a movie at home, but live. Check out websites online for cheap tickets or lotteries.

8. Watch The Sunset From Brookfield Place: An underrated spot next to The World Trade Center. Grab a bite from the food court and watch the sunset over the Hudson River and Statue of Liberty.
