Confused about how to travel around South Korea? Here’s a simple 101 guide for you!

RULE NUMBER 1: Download Naver Maps! Google Maps won’t really work.

🚘 Purchase a T-Money card! This acts as an ez-link card, and can be used for metro trains, buses and at convenient stores too!

You can purchase one upon arrival at the airport (near the airport railroad terminal), or at convenient stores. They have the basic ones and really cute ones with designs (incl your favourite kpop idols)

🚘 Travel from Incheon Airport to Seoul via the Airport Railroad.

There’s two lines - Express and All Stop, so be careful with which ticket you buy.

If you want to go to Hongik Station straight, the All Stop line does go there.

🚘 Travel around Seoul by metro trains

Their train stations are very convenient and cover most of the city. They have so many train lines that it can be very messy so do double check before boarding a train.

You can download the Kakao Metro app for the entire map.

🚘 Travel around Seoul by bus

I prefer their buses because it means lesser stairs, walking and their buses also allows me to explore more places. But their bus drivers are wild and you can fly if you don’t hold on to the railings tight.

🚘 Travel from Seoul to another city

You can take their KTX trains from Seoul Station! Personally, I prefer buying my tickets on the spot because there’s more flexibility and I’ve also noticed that prices are lower than booking online.
