I’m always on a quest to come up with simple and delicious recipes.

I love to cook, but don’t always like the time and effort it takes.

Drop dumplings are super easy to make, take no time to cook and are very customizable.

One night while making chicken and dumplings I thought to myself “I could easily make this a dessert.”

Here’s my take on Apple Pie Dumplings.

Dumplings:

- 1 cup all purpose flour

- 2 tsp baking powder

- 1 tsp pumpkin pie spice

- 3 tbsp granulated sugar

- 2 tbsp vanilla yogurt (optional)

- 1/3 cup milk

- 2 tbsp melted butter

Sauce:

- 1/2 cup butter

- 1/3 cup brown sugar

- 1 tbsp ground cinnamon

- 1 chopped apple

Grab a sauce pan, put it on low heat and put the butter for your sauce in it.

This will insure it melts, without browning, while you mix your dumplings.

Mix dry ingredients for dumplings together.

Melt butter in separate bowl.

Add yogurt and milk to butter then mix.

Combine wet and dry ingredients. (Use a fork or a spatula. Don’t use a whisk because it’ll stick to it.)

Dumpling dough is ready.

Turn the stove just below medium heat.

Add the brown sugar, cinnamon and sliced apple.

Next take a tbsp, or a regular spoon, and use that as a scoop for your dumplings, and plop them in the sauce pan.

(Should render 8-10 dumplings.)

Once all dumplings have been added, cover the pan with a lid and let cook.

After a few minutes, check the dumplings and add some of the sauce to the tops of them to keep them moist.

Total cook time was roughly 15 minutes.

If you can stab a fork in it and it comes out clean, they’re done.

Careful not to let them over cook or the bottoms will burn and ruin the taste.

Makes a great breakfast, dessert or even just a sweet little treat.
