When I go on a trip, I always look up where the independent bookstores are. (And where good coffee places are, ideally, within walking a distance of the bookstore, because what are books without coffee? Bonus points if the bookstore also has a coffee shop. Anyways, I diverge.) This is my *favorite* thing to do because every independent bookstore is so unique, the employees are delightful, the vibes are always immaculate, and there’s no better feeling than roaming a new bookstore! Here are a few of my favorites:

Parnassus Books in Nashville, TN: This is, hands down, the BEST bookstore I have ever been to. There’s every title you could ever want and more. The owner, Ann Patchett, is a bestselling author (The Dutch House, Tom Lake) and she’s the sweetest. OH and there are even shop dogs! Heaven

Beacon Hills Books and Cafe in Boston, MA: This adorable indie is built in an old Beacon Hill townhouse, which means that it’s three levels and has a winding staircase that adds extra whimsy. This bookstore is cozy to the max. Go during the holidays because they decorate beautifully! And don’t miss their high tea.

Kramers in Washington, DC: Kramers is a great place to go when in DC. It’s centrally located in the city, has a great selection, and a full eatery attached! It’s so fun to browse, buy a book, then settle down to read with a good cup of coffee. #lemon8partner #lemon8bookclub #bookstores
