Watercolor Ice Cream Paintings!

Ice cream! Oof, these were tough to paint! I’m not trying to paint cones anytime soon. So so many details, and somehow, they all felt pretty essential to painting the cone.

Painting the soft serve was a real favorite, both for the results, and the process. Something about those colors and the swirls of the ice cream made up for the anguish of the cone! When approaching a painting like this, it is good to remember the basics of drawing shapes with volume. In my drawing classes, we focused on drawing spheres, cubes, cones, cylinders, etc. The ice creams naturally are a combination of a few of these basic shapes with details added.
