Come with me to ICELAND!! 🌈🧊⛰️

Iceland has been a trip at the top of my bucketlist for some time so my boyfriend and I cut no corners on seeing as many sights as possible during our time there! It was such an amazing trip to a super safe country, I’d visit there again solo in a heartbeat. I most definitely recommend a trip to Iceland if it’s on your travel list! Here was out itinerary…

Day 1 🌈

Landed in Iceland at 5 am and caught a FlyBus to Reykjavík. We had breakfast at Grái Kötturinn and took a pay what you wish walking tour around Reykjavik! Once we finished exploring we headed to HI Loft Hostel to check into our room and take a nap. Once we woke up we chatted a bit with our roommates and all got dinner together at Icelandic Street Food before taking a stroll around the city.

Day 2🏔️

On our second day in Iceland we took a “South Coast Wonders” day trip! Our first stop on the tour was Skógafoss, this was the main attraction I wanted to visit on our trip. The next stop was Víkurfjara Black Sand Beach and Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach. The black sand beaches were so cool to see but we had to be super careful of the sneaker waves (kinda like rip tides). We were then off to Seljalandsfoss to check out another cool waterfall and even got to take a quick pit stop to see a glacier on the way there! We finally headed back to Reykjavík and ended the evening with hot dogs from Bæjarins Beztu Pylsur and stayed up to see the northern lights from our hostel’s rooftop.

Day 3💛

On our third day we took the Golden Circle tour! Our first stop was to Friðheimar, a completely indoor tomato farm that also served tomato themed food (separate post coming soon!). After we enjoyed tomato soup we were off to Geysir Centre to witness the amazing Strokkur Geysir. Our next destination, Gullfoss Waterfall, completely took me by surprise, it was absolutely beautiful and we were lucky to catch a rainbow! Our final stop was Thingvellir National Park, the view from the overlook was spectacular! Once back in Reykjavík we of course got hot dogs again and stopped at Pósthús Food Hall for a night cap.

Day 4 🩵

On our final full day in Iceland we started with getting Swiss Mochas from Café Bablú (post coming soon!). After breakfast we headed to Blue Lagoon to have some relaxation after our busy last two days! The lagoon was definitely a must see at least once in Iceland but overall I was underwhelmed 😅. We finished the day with dinner at the popular Laundromat Cafe.

Day 5 ✈️

Before heading to the airport we walked over to Hallgrimskirkja (the major church in Reykjavik) to see inside and listen to the organist play, but unfortunately didn’t have time to go up to the observation deck. But of course had to grab some breakfast at the super popular Sandholt cafe before catching the bus back to the airport!

For anyone that’s been to Iceland what landmarks did we miss or what would you recommend seeing?! I really wanted to go to Diamond Beach but it’s on the east side of the county, so maybe next time we’ll do the ring road!
