THE GROUNDS OF THE CITY - was it worth it?

read online that this was a really popular cafe in sydney (probably the most popular one) hence we decided to try it! however do note that if you want to head down to their themed cafes (they have cafes with themes like alice in the wonderland) do head down to their alexandria branch (the grounds of alexandria) and dont mix them up like me😭😭

firstly, the restaurant itself although not themed, was still really gorgeous overall! even the menu is well crafted with really cute drawings of their food, desserts and drinks!

however, the food was a little underwhelming 😣😣 the crab omelette barely had any crab meat and it was also really unevenly distributed throughout the omelette. the pancakes were a little too doughy and slightly too sweet while the egg benedicts with muffin were okay, it was wasn't the best ive had either!

On the other hand, the pastries were pretty good and crispy! 🥳 They were also really creative with their drinks menu, offering drinks like a deconstructed mocha so you could make it yourself! The chocolate in the mocha was REALLY GOOD THOUGH 🤯🤯🤯 We had the option of adding milk to our tea as well which was really nice!

Overall, i would still recommend this cafe considering its ambience (even though i think the alexandria branch one would have looked way better) and if you are just looking for a place to have high tea as they have pretty good pastries and desserts! one tip is to not drive here though as it is really really hard to find a parking and it can be very expensive (we got charged $50+ for 1.5hrs of parking😭😭) if you really have no choice but to drive, i would recommend you guys to head over to the grounds of alexandria as the employees there will give you directions on where to park!
