hi gorgeous babes! 🫶🏼🫶🏼

i’ve been doing my fitness journey for over a year now and wanted to give a few tips to those who might be starting theirs at the start of the new year!

*edit: the first picture was in july 2022 and i started in September of 2022, the most recent pictures are from September of this year and just over the past few months!*

here are some things that helped me the most! :)

1. CALORIE DEFICIT

- This basically means you are burning more calories than what you are consuming. You can go online and google “calorie deficit calculator” with your current body measurements and what your goal is, and it will give you a suggested amount of calories to follow during the day. (you do not have to count calories to lose weight, i know it can be triggering to some! it can help you to follow along and make sure you stay on track though!)

2. WEIGHT LIFTING & CARDIO

- Don’t just rely on basic cardio (although it does help, so don’t ignore it either 😉)!! Adding in strength training can make a huge difference by creating muscle and toning your body! Don’t be afraid to read the instructions on the weight machines at gyms and ask others around you for help if you need it! **Pro tip: If you are into lifting weights and strength training, keep your daily protein intake high! This can be done by adding in protein powder to so many different foods, such as smoothies and shakes, and finding high protein foods and meals that you like (there are plenty of easy frozen meals that are high in protein too).

If you’re looking into more muscle building & fat loss (and less into just “losing weight”) then research more about “body recomposition”, which is basically where i’m at now, and it might help you achieve your goals easier!

3. 80/20 Eating

- Weight loss truly does start in the kitchen! (also: Please eat and don’t fall into the habit of not eating it’s not safe at all and does more harm!) I don’t always follow this 100%, but basically this means eating nutritionally balanced foods 80% of the time and eating more treat type foods (guilt free!!!) 20% of the time!

4. Consistency!!

- This is the most important thing! Try your best to get into the gym (or at home workouts) a few times a week along with keeping your eating patterns as consistent as possible.

-^ That being said, it is also 10000% okay to take breaks from the gym, if you don’t want to go then don’t go!! Your mental health should always come first no matter what, so please take care of yourself however you need 🤍🤍
