Zion Emerald Pools Trail Guide

Emerald Pools Trailhead hike is a popular trail in Zion National Park with stunning views of lush greenery and beautiful waterfalls.

⏱️ Best Time to Hike

In the spring and fall when the weather is mild, and the water levels are usually higher, enhancing the beauty of the pools and waterfalls.

📈 Length and Difficulty

The overall length of the trail varies depending on which of the three pools you choose to hike to. The Lower Emerald Pool trail is ~1.2 miles round trip, to the Middle Pool extends it to ~2 miles round trip, and the round trip to the Upper Pool is ~3 miles. This hike is moderate level difficulty.

🏁 Where to Start

Starting point is located near the Zion Lodge. You can access the trail from the Grotto Trailhead. But in March-November you can access there by a free shuttle bus only! Be prepared to spend 1-3 hours, depending on how far you want to go.

✔️ Useful Facts

- The trail can be crowded, especially during peak seasons, so start early or close to the sunset.

- Be prepared for some sections to be wet or muddy, especially in the spring when water runoff is higher.
