It’s okay to have a different timeline! 😌

Let’s get PERSONAL and talk about something uncommon in our culture!! 🙇🏻‍♀️ I think SG culture has shaped us in following the typical timeline - a continuous education system & pursue our career upon graduation. If you’re not on this timeline, you may fall behind your peers & things can get really competitive.

Unlike many others who took gap year for personal development or entrepreneurship, I took a leap of faith for MYSELF to decide on WHAT I REALLY WANT.

I took a year long break from school and converted my part-time job at a clinic to full-time. Working in a clinic was what sparked my interest in nursing!! 🥹 The gap year was meant to decide whether the healthcare industry is for me.

There were times when i compared myself to my peers of the same age: those who went JC would have been in y2 uni while those who went poly would have been in y1 uni. & there’s ME; undecided on what i want to do. When i rejected NTU BIZ for NUS Nursing, people around me thought i was a foolish girl who couldn’t make a wise choice.

BUT my biggest lesson is that IT’S OKAY to TAKE YOUR TIME to figure out what you want & to go through life at your OWN PACE. Regardless whether you’re about to career switch, quit your job or pursue further studies, it’s okay to make a DIFFERENT decision from your fellow peers. ☺️ Ultimately, make a choice that you’ll not regret & always follow your heart.
