🇲🇾 Malaysia HDL vs Singapore HDL?

I’m sure some of you have heard of Malaysia (MY) HDL being cheaper than Singapore (SG) HDL due to 1. our strong currency exchange rate and 2. the HDL pricing where the numbers on the price tag remains (eg a 24 SGD soup base is equivalent to a 24 RM soup base)

So I FINALLY TRIED it during my Penang trip and here are my thoughts:

1. HDL MY has more local soup bases as compared to HDL SG. I ordered the peppered pig stomach soup (a soup base that only HDL MY has) which was super good! It was peppery enough (able to customize) and the pig stomach was fresh too (not stinky). There’s also beef tallow (牛油) soup base and many others offered in HDL MY!

2. HDL MY also offers more range of carbs dishes such as hot & sour rice noodles which SG doesn’t offer! 🥹

3. HDL MY has limited choices of meat as compared to SG, SG HDL has a wider range of different types of pork (eg. iberico pork, black pork, etc.) and beef!

4. The birthday celebration is also different for both HDL MY and HDL SG!! HDL SG usually offers fruit platters for bday (cakes are very rare) and the HDL workers usually sing in english & chinese while HDL MY only offers a slice of cake and they sing birthday song in english, chinese & cantonese!

& finally, PRICE DIFFERENCE. For the same kind of HDL experience, i definitely would come back to Malaysia for its HDL!!! 😍
