debunking working holiday visa myths ❌❌❌

there are so many misconceptions people have of working holiday visas (especially for australia), so here are some myths vs facts!

❌ MYTH 1: you have to work in farms/hotels/cafes

⭕️ TRUTH: you can do any kind of work you like, as long as you don’t work for the same employer beyond 6 months. for example, my job is in social media advertising.

❌ MYTH 2: you need to be rich to do a working holiday

⭕️ TRUTH: the point of a working holiday is to earn money!!! so you definitely don’t have to be rich to embark on one. in fact, australia’s wages are higher than singapore’s so there’s a possibility of you earning more here.

❌ MYTH 3: it’s easy to find jobs on a working holiday visa

⭕️ TRUTH: it’s really not easy 🥲 australia doesn’t have as much a lack of manpower as new zealand because there are lots of international students here doing part time jobs. of course, it’s much easier if you’re open to farm work or working in remote parts of australia.

as for office jobs in melbourne, i applied for 800+ jobs and attended 30 interviews before getting my role.

❌ MYTH 4: you need to be below 30 to do a working holiday visa

⭕️ TRUTH: you need to apply for your visa BEFORE you turn 31, then you have one year to enter australia to activate your visa.

so if you apply for the visa before you turn 31, and only activate it one year later, you could possibly be doing your working holiday at 32.
