5 things to discuss before travelling as a couple!

I love travelling with my husband as it's a great way for us to bond, learn more about each other, and create memories that will last a lifetime. However, we faced several frustrations on our first few trips together.

It's important to do your homework and discuss some key things before you hit the road. Here are a few things I'd recommend y'all talk about before taking a trip with your boyfriend or girlfriend.

💰 BUDGET 💰

How much are you willing to spend on the trip? This includes airfare, accommodation, transportation, food, activities, and souvenirs. It's important to be on the same page about your budget so that you don't end up in any uncomfortable sitation during the trip.

🕶 INTERESTS 🕶

Do you like to relax on the beach, go hiking, sightsee, or party? It's important to choose a destination that you'll both enjoy. If you have different interests, try to compromise by findind a place that has something for everyone.

📅 SCHEDULE 📅

How many days do you want to spend in each place? What time do you plan to wake up? It's important to create a schedule that works for both of you. My husband and I often argued about what time to wake up as he prefers a relaxed vacation while I wanted to maximise our time overseas. Always find a compromise — if you're short on time, you may want to focus on a few key destinations.

🚙 TRANSPORTATION 🚙

How do you want to get around? Do you want to fly, take a train, bus, or rent a car? Can either of you drive? It's important to choose a mode of transportation that's convenient and available for both of you.

🏨 ACCOMODATION 🏨

What type of accommodation do you prefer? Do you want to stay in a hotel, hostel, guesthouse, or Airbnb? Weigh the pros and cons of each choice and decide on which is the one you both can accept. When I travelled alone, before I met my husband, I always stayed in hostels while he was more used to hotels. I recognised that hostel bunk beds are not the most ideal for couples though, so I was willing to compromise on my budget for this.

✧ Be flexible: Things don't always go according to plan, so it's important to be flexible. If there are any unexpected delays or changes, don't let it ruin your trip.

✧ Be patient: Traveling can be stressful, so it's important to be patient with each other. If your significant other is getting stressed out, remind him or her to take a deep breath and try to relax.

✧ Lastly, have fun! Travelling with your significant other should be fun. Make sure to relax, enjoy each other's company, and create new memories together.
