I recently went to Vietnam in August and it was truly a foodie’s dream come true. The food was cheap and soooo delicious or NGON as they say it.

Vietnamese food never disappoints, they are super fragrant yet, easy on the stomach. If I could describe Vietnamese food is that they are they ultimate comfort food. I visited 3 parts of Vietnam, Da Lat, Ho Chi Minh and Phu Quoc, and these are my favourite dishes!

1. Kem Bo (Avocado smoothie and coconut ice cream) 🥑

- super cheap desserts that you can find at Da Lat night market, they are made with super big avocadoes found here in Vietnam.

2. Egg Coffee 🍳

- unique to Vietnam, they steam the egg together with the milk to create a creamy texture to the coffee, giving it a whole different dimension to the taste. Highly recommend! (Although they only served hot, also would recommend getting it less sweet)

3. Banh Can (Egg thingy with meatballs) 🥚

- this came highly recommended by a local to try out for breakfast. It is a quail egg mixed together with a rice flour mixture cooked over charcoal. When we first got it, we thought it just came plain, only did we realise that you have to eat it with this sweet meatball soup gravy kinda thing. Once we did it all made sense, honestly an experience you should try!

4. Da Lat Pizza 🍕

- one of the best things I’ve tried in Vietnam, it is like a thin crust pizza that is sweet and savoury. They put a rice paper sheet over some charcoal and crack an egg over it while adding ingredients such as ham, crabmeat and sausages. They then add sauces which tie it in all together. Honestly would go back for this.

5. Mi Quang (Yellow noodles with magic broth)

- a local brought us here and recommend that we get a bowl. We had no idea what we were getting ourselves into, but I can honestly say that this was the best noodles I’ve had here. The broth was soooo good,it was flavourful yet strong.

6. Bahn Mi Bo Kho (Bread with stew)

- you may be aware of bahn Mi in Vietnam, but have you ever tried it with stew? You can choose a variety of stews to try, from ham, to pork, to sardines. Truly something new to try here in Vietnam.

Would come back to vietnam just for the food, not only that the food here is cheap. Miss the food, vibes and atmosphere of vietnam. Take me back!
