$671 on cruise?? Is it worth it?? 🛳

Previously, I went for a 3N Ocean Getaway Cruise with Royal Caribbean Spectrum of the Seas (to Nowhere) with my friends for our grad trip 🎓 Each of us roughly paid $671 for an Ocean View Balcony room. Was the cruise worth our money? 🤔

Here are my thoughts and what to expect:

• Royal Caribbean International App 📱

I really liked how I could plan my entire voyage and book activities through the app. You can make dining and entertainment reservations as well as view deck maps and menus. Before your cruise, I'd recommend you to plan using the app to enjoy your cruise to the fullest.

Note: Time slots for entertainment/activities run out quickly so be sure to make a reservation! 🫠

• Food 🍽

Your cruise package includes unlimited food at the Windjammer and the Main Dining Room. There are many other restaurants available such as Wonderland and Chops Grille but you have to pay for it as they are not included 😕 (any 3 meals for US$132 across all restaurants)

Windjammer is a buffet-style restaurant which serves food from all around the world. My friends and I tried the food there and didn't like it 🙁 Their eggs tasted so bad 😭 Despite the wide selection of food, it tasted average ngl, nth special 👎🏻 We ended up having most of our meals at the Main Dining Room ;-;

The Main Dining Room serves unlimited full-course meals, consisting of appetisers, main courses and desserts. If you can't decide which to choose, no worries! You can order all 😁 The food were delicious. We had a personal waiter to serve us and he was really friendly 🫶🏻

We tried Chops Grille for our Day 2 lunch. We ordered ribeye steak and grilled Atlantic salmon which came with free-flow sides such as tater tots and asparagus (US$35 per pax). They were all appetising and value for money 👍🏻

Other included: Dog House, Splashaway Café and Sorrento's Pizza

As you are allowed to bring up to 2 bottles of wine per room, we recommend grabbing some pizzas at night for supper with wine at the balcony 😍

• Activities 🤸🏻‍♂

There are plenty of activities (Bumper Car, FlowRider, movie night, archery etc) and performances (Showgirl, The Silk Road, magic shows etc) for you so that you don't get bored. Personally, I enjoyed The Silk Road and Showgirl very much. Please please make a reservation for these shows as they are very popular 😳 Same goes for the bumper car, you should start queuing an hour earlier :’) There was also a party night on Day 2 where you can dance and party. Alcoholic drinks were available for purchase too🕺🏻🥂

• Facilities 🕊

I love the indoor jacuzzis sm as I enjoyed the vast ocean view. It was rly relaxing and healing. Warm towels are available but be sure to return them. There’s a casino, gym, basketball court and more as well. We had a comfortable stay despite having 4 people in a room. The sofa can be transformed into a bed. However, the TV only had 1 free movie. Other shows need to be paid 👎🏻

Overall, it was a pleasant experience for me. If you're looking for a relaxing getaway, you’ll definitely enjoy it. However, money wise… I will not spend to go on a cruise again. A one-time cruise experience is enough for me and I'd prefer to spend the same amount to travel elsewhere. Oh yes, do note that there's 18% gratuity on every purchase 🙇🏻‍♀️.

Additionally, your cruise card will act as a credit card for all purchases made onboard. There will also be a deduction of $100 from you on Day 1 as deposit but fret not, it will be refunded at the end of your voyage.
