It took a couple of weeks, but my friend finally got a reservation at Tán, and I’m impressed! I’m the first to say that a lot of NYC’s insta-famous restaurants only have good vibes and bad food, but that was not the case here. The inside is obviously beautiful, but here’s (some of) what we tried:
1️⃣ Bone marrow. This app came with octopus, salsa verde, and black garlic to spread on tortillas. Their tortilla holder was shaped like a pig 🐷 10/10
2️⃣ Short rib al carbon. Fall off the bone, literally. Probably my fave of the night!
3️⃣ Baby beet salad. The menu item I was most excited for, believe it or not. The way to my heart is a good beet salad 🥗
4️⃣ Ceviche amarillo. Now I’m not really a ceviche girl, but this one was actually very good. I would even order it again
5️⃣ Guacamole. I hate guacamole. My friends said it was very good 🤷🏻♀️
6️⃣ Dessert: Oaxacan chocolate fondant. A very fancy way to say chocolate lava cake. I think I was too full to really consider how it tasted. We did finish it though lol
‼️ We also tried the octopus maya, which I absolutely loved, and the lobster tacos, which I would say do NOT waste your time or money on those. The place is so new that it doesn’t have a liquor license yet, but honestly I loved the food so much that I didn’t care lol. They’re working on a rooftop that’ll hopefully be open for the summer.
Overall, I say absolutely try this spot (but if you like cocktails with your food, wait a little to get that resy). It was one of the best meals I’ve had this year so far! Good luck getting a reservation 🤞🏼
