Hey friends, I recently chanced upon the coolest Japanese bakery at Northpoint!
It's called Gokoku Japanese Bakery, and other than this branch, they have a few outlets in Singapore:
- Wisma atria
- Serangoon Central
- Tampines Mall
- Great World City
- Millennia Walk
- Jurong Point
They have some super interesting bread and pastries here... these are what I tried!
1. Scone with earl grey tea ($2.30)
This was SO fragrant and delicious. Had it with a cup of tea and it was perfect! 10/10 would definitely buy again.
2. Shio vanilla scone with walnuts, vanilla beans, Guérande salt ($2.30)
Also very fragrant and more savoury than the earl grey version (due to the addition of walnuts and Guérande salt).
Both were delicious, but I gotta say I prefer the earl grey scone better!
3. Red bean anpan ($2.70)
This is one of the bestsellers of the bakery, and for good reason!
The red bean paste is SUPER flavourful and delicious.
4. KOUIGN-AMANN ($2.60)
Was SHOCKED when I saw that they're selling kouign-amanns here for just $2.60. Iirc, these go for $5-$7 a pop at places like Tiong Bahru Bakery?
These were really delicious, definitely something that I would buy again as well!
Size-wise, they're slightly smaller than the ones you get from Tiong Bahru Bakery. (Personally, it suits me fine because I think the bigger ones can sometimes get too sugary sweet!)
Overall, was really impressed by the assortment of breads/pastries AND the quality as well.
Will be back to try more of their breads soon!
