📍 Oriental Kopi @ City Square

Finally trying this place! To be honest, this is the 3rd time I’ve tried to queue at this restaurant - the past 2 times the queue was CRAZY long so I just gave up early. But luckily came on a Friday afternoon and managed to get in within 15 mins!

EGG TARTS: I have to say, these egg tarts fall into my TOP 3 BEST egg tarts of all time. Would like to say that they’re overrated but they REALLY LIVE UP TO THE HYPE. Crispy, crackly, flaky crust and a soft, sweet custard - these fat boys are sooooo damn good. Plus, they serve them hot and steaming, better than places that give you a stale, cold egg tart. One each wasn’t enough, we ordered more to takeaway after our meal. The awards on the wall don’t lie!

ORIENTAL KOPI LAKSA MEE: Broth was spicy and rich, noodles went well and dish was packed full of ingredients - shredded chicken, fishballs, fishcakes, long beans, taupok. Nothing I can complain about :D

BEEF RENDANG NASI BRIYANI: This dish was average. The rice was tasty and went well with the beef, but nothing to write home about. Good palate cleanser to

ORIENTAL KOPI (HOT) & TEH CINCAU ICE: Their iced drinks certainly catch your attention on the menu, as they showcase them on the menu with the drink overflowing and spilling over the cup into a dish below. Was pretty tasty too, paired with the grass jelly - YUMZ. The hot kopi was normal. But I just wonder at the end of the day, they do waste a bit of the drink, as I witness the servers pouring the excess into the cups as they clean up (just a funny lil observation).

Overall: Would I go back? Yes certainly! Definitely for the egg tarts, if not to explore their other menu items - the menu was EXTENSIVE. The final price was pretty reasonable too - our total billed up to around RM89~. But would I queue for an hour to go in? HARD NO. There’s so many other food options in JB.
