Here’s the post on my Reno Regret for carpentry which I mentioned in an earlier post : Render vs Reality (Master Bedroom)

When my ID proposed the above carpentry design for my master bedroom cabinet, (mine is the left side; and the right side is for my hubby), I thought it would give me lots of spaces for my dresses (both short and long).

I didn’t check the measurements as I had assumed that my ID had lots of experience with this. In fact, we only spent like 1-2hrs discussing ALL the carpentry in the house.

When the wardrobe was completed, my key thoughts were just that the internal carpentry was nice as the carpentry seemed quite solid. It was not till we moved in and I started to put in my clothes when I realised to my horror that my dresses cannot fit!!

The drawer was way too high! The left part on top of the drawers couldn’t fit even my short dresses. Only tops and short skirts! So allll my dresses (both long and short - which make up 80% of my wardrobe) had to fit into the small space at the right! Which was impossible.

And the open shelves below the drawer were way too big to be useful. :(

I ended up switching wardrobe sides with my hubby; and removed one panel of wood so that my dresses can fit. Sobs. This was a sore disappointment as it meant we were not maximizing the space in our wardrobes.

So my advice to all is: pls run through all the carpentry measurements in your house, even if your ID is very experienced.
