CLASS 3 DRIVING TIPS

im back peops not wit car spots or model car shops BUT wit some things i learnt for manual driving

(i jus passed TP recently so am typing these while its still fresh 🙂)

WHERE TO POSITION LEFT FOOT 👣

the left foot is used SOLELY for the clutch pedal

i typically place the middle-top part of my foot on the pedal wit my heel on the floor --> the idea is tat ure supposed to slide ur foot on the pedal whn ure using it, NOT move ur whole leg up and down jus to engage or release the clutch

in the beninging i used my toe area to step and it worked ok UNTIL i went into circuit and did the SLOPE the number of times i rolled becos of wrong footing is jus 😅

also this footing position prevents ur leg from cramping up and doesnt require as much strength PLUS its the easiest way to control the clutch👍🏻

HOW TO CONFIRM×2 GO UP SLOPE WITHOUT ROLLING BACK 😬

the slope is probably the hardest part of TP for manual learners but TBVH everyone jus overcomplicated the steps... I've heard some say need adjust clutch while adjusting gas pedal or others say need rev to dk how mny thou thn can move off but its rlly jus four simple steps

1) pull the handbrake slightly above halfway thn release ur brake pedal, reason being if u pull less than halfway the handbrake cant hold the car and u will roll once u release the brake pedal, if u pull all the way its still ok but u need alot more strength to release the handbrake later on which cld distract u and cause completely preventable errors in ur footing

2) rev it up - step on the gas pedal slightlyand hold it thr, if it helps ig u cld rev to 3 thou as a guideline

3) slowly release the clutch pedal until u see the nose of the car lift (v obvious u cant miss it) and hear the engine die down abit (become softer) HOLD IT THR DO NOT MOVE UR LEFT FOOT ANYMORE!!

4) step the gas pedal a lil bit more and release the handbrake once u hear the engine get louder agn, thr is no need to move ur feet anym aft this but ig u can step gas pedal even further if uw to go faster...

and tada u r up the slope alr congratulations👍🏻

as u can see the process isnt THAT complicated and is easily achieved aft u practice once or twice

in the event u do start to roll abit...quickly step on the gas pedal a lil further but DO NOT move ur left foot. u will either lose power or the engine will die 😐

WHEN TO CHANGE GEARS 🤔

the theory book says every gear is meant for a certain range of speed but tats honestly nonsense...u change the gear to give u ur desired amount of power, tats wat people mean by manual gives u complete control of the car

typically i change gears by listening to the engine, whn u hear the engine sound stagnate (not grow louder) it is prob alr too late to up the gear, i wldve changed the gear bfr it rched tat point...to change gears engage the clutch fully release the gas pedal shift the stick thn SLOWLY raise ur left foot and SLOWLY step the gas pedal 😀

pro tip for after u pass...using a higher gear 3/4 generates less power while maintaining a decent speed which means LOWER FUEL CONSUMPTION! so u save on gas money🤑

for those who hv not started learning, do consider class3 not jus cos manual cars r cheaper than their auto counterparts but oso cos u understand the car so much more and can control the gear ur future auto car selects to ur advantage (u can understand the auto gearbox and use jus the gas pedal to have it go at ur desired gear)

overall manual cars r jus fun×3 wit some hassle at really weird carparks wit extremely steep slopes...other than tat its so much more interesting and easier to maintain so dun be scared try it if u hvnt and i hope this post helped a lil for whoever needed it ☺️
