Owning a Chanel Le Boy Handbag

Introduced in the year 2011 in Chanel’s Fall/Winter collection. The Chanel Boy handbag has gained massive popularity amongst the ladies and the guys.

But in the recent years, many have said that the style of it has died down and it’s not trendy anymore. But I mean, fashion is a cycle. One minute it’s trendy, another minute it’s not. But what differentiate between yourself and the rest is your own style.

Anyways, I digress. So today I’m going to give my honest review on the Chanel Le Boy handbag. I have owned this bag for about a year. I purchased this bag on June 2022 and I’ve been loving it so far. I got it in the Caviar leather and gold toned hardware. Initially I wanted the gunmetal silver, also known as the ruthenium hardware, but then I was offered the aged gold one instead. Knowing that how difficult it is to get any classic bags or Infact ANY BAGS from Chanel now. I just knew I had to say yes.

Fast forward a year later, I have brought this bag with me out and about, to work, and traveling overseas with. It’s really a handy bag. The fact that it is also made in caviar leather, it is pretty sturdy and scratch resistant.

Like many others have said, the BOY bag is more edgy and cooler as compared to the Timeless Classic Flap bag as the chains are chunkier and bigger. It can be worn in 3 ways:

1: Crossbody

2: Over the shoulder

3: At the crook of your arm like a handbag

But do note that the bag don’t really fit much and if you don’t have any pouches that keeps all your little miscellaneous items such as eye drops, hand cream or lip balm, they will somehow find a way to drop it out of the bag through the side openings of the bag. I highly recommend getting a bag organiser to properly organise your stuff and also to keep your bag in shape. I think I’m pretty lucky as the leather of mine seems quite sturdy as I’ve seen some BOY bags with very soft caviar leather which tends to sink in after a certain time and it made the bag looked very “ugly”.

This bag comes in 3 sizes, Small, Medium, and Large. In previous years there was 2 sizes of medium, one being called Old Medium and another one in New Medium. But as of last year, the SA told me that the New Medium is now known as the Large size and the original Large size has been discontinued. Soo yea, just a little FYI.

Anyways, I don’t really encourage the large size cause it’s very rectangle and not very aesthetically looking. I will recommend the either the Small or Medium size but do note that the Medium already fits quite little (for me), needless to say the small size it fits practically almost nothing. Unless you’re a minimalist then ya. Go for it.
