🪡 Lai En Tailors is one of the more established yet hidden shops to tailor your clothes at. Located in a derelict industrial building somewhere deep in Hougang, this unassuming shop is actually filled with customers either ordering or collecting their clothes.

Upon entering, it looks like a factory with 3-4 seamstress hard at work sewing clothes, with lots of fabric strewn around the place. Walking through to the back, here’s what to do:

1. Browse through fabric book to select the color, texture, print & material

2. Get measured up to the inch

3. Share on your preferences e.g slim fit, breast pocket, cuff links, etc.

4. Make payment & get receipt

5. 2-3 weeks to collection!

💸 $88/shirt but it’s pretty worth it, especially if you’re working and will be wearing it every other week.

❌ Tried to negotiate for a better price but had no luck 🥲

💭 Having been working for quite some time, I realized the importance of looking sharp in your corporate wear. For guys, it usually means wearing something fitting, looking professional & feeling confident with yourself.

👔 For myself, formal wear from retail brands aren’t as fitting as I’d like and are baggy at the sides and under the arms. This has led me to getting my formal shirts tailored to fit my body proportionally, so that I look good and feel good about myself. This is especially important if you want to leave a good impression on your colleagues, clients and even bosses.
