What to do when u accidentally EXPOSE☀️ur film?📸😱🥵

🍋hi guys tdy I’ll be sharing abt my experience with accidentally exposing my film !!

🌟Context: I accidentally dropped my film camera while I was in OPEN SPACE, the sun was literally shining at its BRIGHTEST. And I didn’t notice immediately that my film cam had dropped, my friend pointed it out to me + it fell quite far away so I had to take a few steps there before I closed my film cameras back cover. I think in total my film was exposed for ~10s at least ??

🌟After this happened I was SUPER SCARED that all my films were lost, mind you I was literally at the end of the roll and finishing alr. I was still telling my friend “ let me take some pics here to use up my film “ before it DROPPED ARGHH. i was alr at Kyoto and my film cam contained all my Tokyo photos including disneysea so it wld be a pity if I lost all the photos !!

🌟However, I still decided to continue taking the photos on the remaining film and then I went to develop it! Also, when I dropped my film cam (Kodak m35) the shutter count restarted, so I wasn’t sure exactly how much film I had left !

🌟To my surprise, all my previous photos were still intact !! I lost the pictures that I took at that place where I dropped my cam which was ya reasonable bc it was directly exposed. The one that shocked me the most were the light leaks !! I got 3 light leak photos in which one was completely covering the photo, the other one looked super nice omg I actually like it a lot HAHA, and then the last one was just a little bit !! These films were maybe about 5 shots away from those that disappeared. There were also some photos that turned out underexposed. Not sure if it was bc I dropped my cam, but it was quite unusual as I took those pictures under direct sunlight too so it shld be properly exposed!

🌟In conclusion, if you drop ur film cam:

1) IMMEDIATELY close the back of the camera to prevent further damage

- never ever open the back of ur camera especially under direct sunlight !!

2) check if your film has been dislodged and if it can still advance. If it’s still in place, you can still use the remaining film !

3) u might be surprised by the results !

- I’m so glad I decided to still develop the film as so many pictures were still intact, and I was especially shocked by the light leaks !! I’ve nvr experienced light leaks before so this was super cool hehe
