Supplements are meant to SUPPLEMENT your diet, and fill the gaps you aren't reaching nutritionally. There is no one size fits all best routine, because it depends on many factors and should be assessed individually from person to person!

BUT I would say most people could benefit from these three supplements.

1. magnesium - half of Americans aren't getting enough. and there is also a difference between what is "enough" and what is optimal! I take this before bed because it helps with sleep.

2. fish oil - I don't eat fatty fish (like salmon) often enough and the small amounts from other sources just aren't doing it. even if you take the supplement a few times a week it is better than nothing. I take this any time of day.

3. vitamin d - in the northern half of the US we are struggling with vitamin D! I don't get much sun to skin contact, and it's pretty hard to get enough from food. make sure to take your vitamin d supplement with a meal (it's fat soluble)
