Boxing is so underrated for fitness goals. I have done boxing for 5+ years and now I actually teach boxing classes! I used to DREAD doing cardio and the first time I tried boxing I fell in love.

It’s REALLY good cardio but somehow it doesn’t feel like cardio to me. It’s different than trying to pass time on the treadmill or stairmaster. The time passes by quickly because you aren’t thinking about it. Check to see if you have any classes near you!

Here are some benefits of boxing;

1. RELIEVES STRESS: I think it’s self explanatory.. punching something as hard as you can?? what isn’t stress relieving about that! haha. exercise in general is stress relieving but picture this. you come to my boxing class, it’s dark with a blue light, great music is bumping, youre sweating and you’re taking it all out on the bag.

2. BURNS LOTS OF CALS: I don’t think a lot of people realize how great of cardio boxing is. it is really easy to get your heart rate up! some people burn 500-600 calories in a 50 minute class. as you probably know, burning calories is helpful for fat loss goals because you need to be in a calorie deficit to lose fat.

3. GREAT FOR YOUR HEART: because you can really get your heart rate up, boxing is great for your heart! I think it’s important to do some intense cardio at least once per week. walking on an incline isn’t quite the same. when I used to wear my watch there were times where my heart rate would get up to 200 BPM.

4. WORKS ENTIRE BODY: you might think boxing only works your arms/shoulders, but that’s not that case! It works your ENTIRE body. at least if you are doing it correctly. you use your legs/hips to get power for your punches. your core is twisting back and forth and bracing. you use all your muscles! I also include some rounds of fitness exercises in my classes to switch it up.

5. BOOSTS CONFIDENCE AND HELPS YOU FEEL BAD ASS: everything about boxing is bad ass. you will feel amazing after :)
