I originally struggled to get into this book but after getting into the plot and the characters I could not put it down. This is also the first dystopian book I have read in a really long time and I think it’s a great reintroduction into the genre. Think The Hunger Games except every sixteen year old girl is sent away. I really enjoyed the character development of Tierney and some of the other girls, and not to mention Ryker and Tierney’s relationship 🥹. The book touches on many themes in society such as the use of religion as a weapon and the relationships that emerge in girlhood.
