What are stocks

Just wanted to start this off by explaining what stocks are and what they represent.

Stocks are essentially shares of a company where a stock represents a share/piece of ownership in a company making the holder of those shares entitled to dividends of the company, if dividends are offered.

Not all stocks pay out dividends though so you would need to check if they do offer a dividend/dividend yield which can be googled or shown in the app used to trade. More on dividends and what the divided yield is later.
