Introducing the alphasmart neo2 and the alphasmart 3000. This device went viral about 2 years ago on social media amongst authors and aspiring writers. I saw so many authors that I admire talking about these devices and I decided to pick one up on eBay! I got a brand-new un-used model for $100, but you can get one for about $60-$80 on average on eBay right now. I've seen the Freewrite advertised to me on social media many times in the last two years and it looks amazing and very aesthetic, but not for $700.

Customize it!

You can buy an alphasmart and customize it to fit your aesthetic. I spray painted mine and added a very cute ghibli sticker I got off of etsy and a totoro sticker that I printed myself. I also painted the keys myself to give it this unique look. I'm always asked if I bought my specific model from someone, but I just decorated it myself! Break out the spray paint and let your imagination run wild! I used rustoleum 2X spray paint.

Which model

I recommend getting the Neo2 over the 3000. The 3000 has sticky keys that require you to hit the key HEAD ON. So if you miss the center of the key then you didn't type that letter. Us modern keyboard users will find this jarring and hard to work with. I do use this model in social media posts a lot as well because I love this form factor better than the neo2 in terms of looks.
