Hakone has been a really popular tourist destination as it is located pretty close to Tokyo!

One of the best ways to explore Hakone is going through the Hakone Round Course via different modes of transportation (train, cablecar, ropeway, boat and bus). Would highly recommend you to get the Hakone Free pass via Klook as you’ll be able to use this pass for all the different modes of transportation around Hakone!

For all those who are confused about the round course, don’t worry I got your back ☺️ I’ve summarized the route below for your easy reference :)

1. Start off at Hakone Yumoto station. Take the Hakone Tozan Railway train to Gora station.

2. From Gora station, take the Hakone Tozan cable car up to Souzan. At Sounzan station, you’ll be able to stop by this little outdoor terrace to enjoy the view and have a little warm foot bath.

3. From Sounzan station, take the Hakone Ropeway to Owakudani Station. Owakudani is one of the most famous viewpoints in Hakone where you can observe the volcanic activity from up close. There are also a couple of restaurants in the area if you’d like to stop for lunch :)

4. From Owakudani station, transfer to another ropeway to go towards Togendai station. Make your way towards lake Ashi.

5. At lake Ashi, board the sightseeing pirate cruise to Hakonemachi-ko. On a clear day, you should be able to see the glorious Mt Fuji too!

6. At Hakonemachi-ko, you can enjoy great views of the lake at different cafes or even visit the Shrine located at Motohakone Ko. You can take the bus back to Hakone Yumoto Station from Hakonemachi-ko.
