They are just as dysfunctional as your are.

Your obsession with them and their devaluing of your love were defense mechanisms that you guys did to protect yourself from hurting your core wounds.

They fear losing their independence and you fear abandonment.

How about this instead? Sit with the idea of them abandoning you. Is it really so bad? Invest in YOURSELF by doing actions that would make you really impressed with yourself. I mean, even if you cant feel REALLY impressed by yourself, if you just do small things, you’ll feel better about yourself and that will help your dynamic.

I promise you: if you have problems with an avoidant in your life, if you work on yourself, they will go away.

They still might not be able to meet all of your needs, but it can still be an incredibly fulfilling relationship
