i think the key to achieving this look is to start your curl pretty close to your scalp, this will give you volume and texture at the root

i like to over direct my front pieces way passed my face, this will give you that “swooped” curl that frames your face perfectly!

you also want to make sure you’re pulling the ends of your curl straight, this helps maintain length and prevent you from getting that shirley temple look
