Toddler Approved #breakfastideas
I like to hit every food group if possible for meals and sometimes that can be overwhelming to moms, especially busy moms and moms of multiples. Here are a few of my staple breakfast ideas. I like them because I can make some items in bulk, hit 2 food groups at once, and they’re easy “grab & go” foods.
🍓🍊🍌 Fruit: This wasn’t a good representation of the fruit options because you can see we’re a big strawberry family😅 However, bananas, grapes, mandarines, blueberries, and medleys are our favorites. Remember to slice them age approximately‼️
🥬🥔🫑 Veggies: A fun way to include veggies is by adding spinach into eggs AND/OR smoothies! Also, if I have a little extra time to make sautéed potatoes, throwing some green/red peppers and onions in never hurts! 😋
🥓🍳🥜Protien: I’m a sucker for canned meat for the littles because it’s so soft, fully cooked, and flavorful before and after cooking. I like corned beef hash and salmon to make salmon patties. My son loves the little breakfast sausage and bacon too! Even when I don’t have meat eggs are essential!! My son likes scrambled or as a frittata/muffin. 1 egg per muffin tin + cheese+ spinach = 12 egg frittatas in 15 mins. Can’t beat that!
🥛🧀Dairy: This is a hard category for me to get my son to eat so I hide diary in food. I cook my pancakes with milk instead of water, add a little bit of milk to his eggs, cheese in his eggs, and Greek yogurt to his smoothies. 🤫
🥯🧇🥞Grains: This is a easy one for us, pancake everything. You’d be surprised the things you can make with pancake mix; muffins, waffles, pancake bars (bake the mix on a cookie sheet), battered apple slices, the options are endless. Then the variety of flavors add to the fun; blueberry, strawberry, banana, chocolate chip, cinnamon, pumpkin spice. If you’re not feeling that there’s always oatmeal, cereal, grits, and biscuits.
🫒🥑Fats: I cook with olive oil and butter 🙂
