Why I told my mom she WASN’T allowed…

Honestly, I wish I could relate to those girls that go to their mothers for strength & share their birthing experience with their mothers there holding their hand & supporting them…

But that could never be my mother & I. 💔

At some point I thought maybe it could be possible. Heck we even moved back to FL to be closer to her.

But the more time we spent together, the more we argued & it was very clear that in her mind I was still a child that should blindly obey her every word.

She dismissed my emotions, was offended by my boundaries & constantly caused me stress & anxiety.

So when it was time to plan my birth I knew I DID NOT want her at the hospital. She would only add more stress & anxiety to an already stressful & anxious moment.

Luckily I had my 1st baby during Covid. So I was not allowed to have anyone else at the hospital other than my spouse.

But with my second baby, she was insisting & I told her no. That I only wanted my husband there so she only visited for a couple hours on the 2nd day.

I do not regret my decision of not having her there cause she didn’t ruin the memories of my birth experience with her words or actions. & I wasn’t unnecessarily stressed & anxious.
