If I can share just one piece of advice with parents that want to avoid toddler tantrums, it would be this & it comes down to this one word:

✨I N D E P E N D E N C E✨

This one word has helped us tremendously with decreasing and avoiding toddler tantrums. Allowing your toddler to have more independence in their everyday lives and routines will allow them to feel a sense of control in times of stress & not lose their bearings so often.

It all starts with modifying your home to allow your toddler to be more dependent. Add stools or place things lower so they’re able to reach them on their own, safe utensils so they’re able to help prep their own food and snacks, and simply allowing them more time to do task on their own.

I know some of these things can add up and be pricey, but take it week by week & add things as you go that will fit in your budget. In the meantime work on what you have control over. One of the things that would always make my toddler frustrated is waiting for his food or snacks to be prepared. So if I’m having a busy day, where I won’t have time to stand there, and allow him to help, I will get a head-start and prepare it before he gets hungry. Allowing them to choose their outfit for the day. It’s a great way to give them a sense control. Also using lots of words and communicating with him during task instead of intervening, I ask him “do you need help” if he says yes I help him. if he says no, I do not intervene, and you will find that 90% of the time they are smart and independent enough to do it on their own.

✨Allowing them to be independent will also build their self-esteem, self identity, and confidence✨

Some of the things in our home our toddler uses daily to promote his independence:

-kitchen helper tower

-wood knife & cutting board

-potty seat with built in step stool

-sink extenders & stink stools

-shoe rack & accessories basket

-toddler size table & chair
