Ever since I was little, I hated the color pink for no real reason. Avoided it at all costs, barely owned anything pink. I never really thought much of it, just hated pink with no true reason, telling myself that it was just too girly.

I remember seeing the new Barbie movie trailer and literally remember the exact moment; I made a cringe face and said, “how stupid, i will never watch that movie”, yet here I am planning to go watch it a FOURTH time to see the unreleased footage coming out in theaters. I kept asking myself, why do I keep wanting to go watch this movie, and after thinking, I realized it was the messages they portray in this film, and I just have to share it with the world.

💖 Don't give up trying to change the world.

Barbie depicts a world in which women wield power derived from acts of compassion, unity, and self-actualization. She persuades the audience that not only is that world attainable, but that anything less is unacceptable. She does not, however, claim that establishing this world will be simple. It will not be because the real world is difficult. But, as Barbie discovers, being difficult isn't always a bad thing. You can't expect to live in Barbieland until you live in the real world and try to create it.

💖 Allow no one to place you in a box.

The film is essentially about Barbie's journey, in which she grows more powerful and dangerous as she learns more about the world and patriarchy. This is not warmly received. A group of mediocre guys in charge literally try to persuade her to return to her Barbie box. The film reminds us that society will try to place powerful women in boxes with labels, shame, legal controls, and so on, and that we should never willfully go into that box.

💖 Don't let a man to define you.

Ken, of all characters, teaches one of the most important lessons in the film. Many women in our culture are still told that in order to be fulfilled, they must find their Prince. Men must gaze at them, adore them, and affirm them by paying attention to them. This is reversed in Barbieland. Ken, like all Kens, lives for Barbie. And they appear pitiful. Ken constantly reminds us that we can never truly find love or fulfillment until we find ourselves.

💖Patriarchy is worse than we think.

At the point when Barbie goes into this present reality, we experience her shock and doubt at how man centric it is. She is harassed. She is grabbed. Her appearance is more important than her words. She shares this to Ken, who out of nowhere feels large and in charge due to the fact that he is now a man in the real world. After being in Barbieland at the start of the film, the audience is taken aback when they witness the world we live in. In the theater, I could hear people crying. Through Barbie's eyes, we see countless instances of misogyny in the real world. Barbie sends us an instinctive indication of what ladies live with each day, and that we ought to never acknowledge the inadmissible.

💖 It is not the responsibility of women to fix guys who do not yet know who they are -YOU ARE KENOUGH

I sobbed when Barbie informed Ken that he was a vital part of her life but that he needed to find himself without her assistance. Instead of maintaining the appearance of a love relationship between Barbie and Ken, Gerwig had her protagonist set a crucial boundary: she would not assist Ken in repairing his damaged manhood. It's a difficult message to remember in real life, especially when you have beautiful Kens in your life who have always supported you, but it's not your obligation as a woman to solve the masculinity crisis through your personal connections. That's something the Kens will have to find out for themselves.

💖 Women can accomplish anything, and it's perfectly fine if you find it exhausting.

Gerwig allows spectators to realize two seemingly conflicting sensations at the same time: it is both inspiring and exhausting to achieve great things as a woman. Recognizing Barbie's fatigue is the first step toward discovering her own humanity, and the message is one that we can carry into any day when we are both proud of ourselves and very exhausted.

💖 Being ordinary has power.

Every Barbie in Barbieland is depicted as having a unique job. Barbies live the dream life as a doctor, president, Supreme Court justice, and more. But this film demonstrates that the ultimate objective of life does not have to be the picture-perfect fantasy. Barbie recognizes that her first mission to become perfect again was a mistake. Society frequently puts pressure on people to live extraordinary lives, and while there is nothing wrong with desiring more for yourself or setting greater goals, there should be no shame in being ordinary. What distinguishes people is not their job title or money, but who they are as individuals. At the end of the day, we will be remembered for how we behaved as human beings, not for the titles that appear next to our names. Barbie may be anything she wants, including regular.

💖 Life will never be perfect, but you may improve it with your attitude.

Understand that life will never be perfect. If this sounds like a nasty reality check, it is. However, this does not imply that we should all despair and await the end of our days. Barbie teaches us throughout the film that we frequently underestimate our potential and self-worth, and we become consumed with wanting to be "perfect." We devote so much time and energy to achieving this illusive condition of "perfection," believing it is the key to achieving the success and pleasure we seek. However, the concept of being "perfect" is a mental construct.Instead of striving for the "perfect" life, we might simply shift our perspective and accept the present.

There are so many more lessons in this beautiful film and I can go on and on ( don’t even get me started on Gloria’s monologue, that’ll have to be a separate post), but I truly encourage everyone to go watch the Barbie movie. I even forced my whole family including my father to watch it. It has truly changed my view of life and encourage me like no other movie ever has 💖
