what i read in a week!

I took this week off work and was able to get a ton of reading done. Overall there were some hits and misses, which I can outline below:

    💛 I am really enjoying Bear, the characters are very relatable and I’m really curious where the story is taking me. I’m going to have to pick up her first book, Disappearing Earth, to read this summer. I love her writing.

    🧡 In Universes was an interesting read, overall I found the protagonist to be a big exhausting and sad, and at times I struggled to get to the end of a chapter. But then, there were times where the writing went straight to my soul. The last chapter in particular tied everything together beautifully, so I’m glad I stuck with it

    🩷 Slow Days Fast Company is the second Eve Babitz book I’ve read, And I absolutely loved this essay collection. She captures her life and the vibe of LA in the 70s so well. I’m very excited to read more of her work soon!

    ❤️ Youthjuice was a huge disappointment for me. Described as “American Psycho meets Devil Wears Prada for the Goop generation, I thought this was going to be clever and funny and entertaining. Unfortunately I think it was too long, even though it’s a short book. The concept was very simple, so after you figure it out the story gets really tiring. If you want something similar, I recommend Self Care by Leigh Stein!
