Top 5 Books I Read in 2023

It was so hard to decide what order to rank my top 5 books of 2023!! I loved each one so much and highly recommend them all!!

1. The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V. E. Schwab — ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5

• this book is worth the hype, such elegant prose and storytelling. Easily the best book I read this year!

2. Half a Soul by Olivia Atwater — ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5

• historical fiction and fantasy are my favorite genres and this book is both! I finished it in one night I couldn’t put it down for a second. The only reason it didn’t get 5 stars for me is because I was left feeling like there could have been more world building, but still an absolutely great read.

3. Weyward by Emilia Hart — ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5

• 3 stories in one book that come together beautifully! Very beautiful prose and a theme that really resonated with me. Took a little bit of time to really get into it, but once you’re in you’re IN.

4. The Only One Left by Riley Sager — ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5

• this was my spooky read for October. I used to love horror novels when I was a kid, i worshipped mary downing hahn. This was the perfect scary mystery book for me now that I’m more easily frightened than I used to be lol, a masterful mystery with an ending that allowed me to fall asleep comfortably.

5. The Fairy Bargains of Prospect Hill by Rowenna Miller — ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5

• another amazing combo of historical fiction and fantasy! I felt this one had better world building for the fairy world than Half a Soul, but was lacking the romance aspect that I love. However, still a beautiful story with lots of room for metaphor and reflection.
