Rating the food I ate 🇯🇵 ✨

Went on a 10-day trip to Tokyo and Osaka for the first time in May 🇯🇵 these were some of the popular & viral food places I tried!

1. Godaime Hanayame - Tokyo Nihonbashi

⭐️ Rating: 6.5/10

Queued for about an hr+. This viral restaurant specialises in extra-wide noodles also as Himokawa udon. However, I didn't really enjoy the chilled dipping udon! Not worth the long wait in my opinion, wouldn’t go back.

2. Tsukiji Fish Market - Tokyo

⭐️ Rating: 7.5/10

Overrated place, but everything I tried was amazing (esp the corn fishcake) 🤭 worth a visit!

3. Ichiran - Tokyo multiple outlets

⭐️ Rating: 7/10

Tried Ichiran once before in Taipei, it tasted exactly the same here! Can’t go wrong with it, though I haven't tried enough ramen to make a full comparison..

4. Shin Udon - Tokyo Shinjuku

⭐️ Rating: 6.8/10

Wanted to try this badly because I love creamy udon! Took a queue number and wait time was less than an hr (thankfully). Another viral place—but the carbonara udon with fried bacon was quite average and too rich for my liking. Shop was also small with limited seating.

5. Chibo Okonomiyaki - Osaka Dotonbori

⭐️ Rating: 9/10

Huge restaurant with multiple levels, and there wasn’t a queue when I went before dinner time. 💯 recommend—the okonomiyaki and yakisoba were sooo good and made freshly in front of you. One of my favourite places from the entire trip!

6. Acchichi Honpo - Osaka Dotonbori

⭐️ Rating: 7.5/10

This was pretty decent and tastes different from the takoyaki in SG. But there are a lot of takoyaki shops located in Dotonbori, and I think they all pretty much taste the same? 🤣

7. Kushikatsu Daruma - Osaka Dotonbori

⭐️ Rating: 7/10

Kushikatsu restaurant known for their delicious deep-fried skewers. I liked how it wasn’t too oily! This restaurant is easy to spot—look for the mascot of an angry-looking man 🥸 Worth trying once.

8. 551 Horai - Osaka

⭐️ Rating: 6.8/10

Famous chain that sells dim sum and Chinese food! Apart from the mains, I tried the steamed pork buns and fried gyoza too. The dim sum tasted ordinary and nothing special, but the seafood noodles and soup were decent which I guess made up for it…

9. Cremia - Osaka

⭐️ Rating: 9/10

Must-try soft serve ice cream. It was so rich & smooth! Loved it 😍

Writing this post makes me miss the food I had in Japan already... What are some of your recommendations? Can’t wait to be back 🤍
