How I Plot My Novel

As a chronic pantser (meaning I don’t plan anything) it’s been really hard to make my writing make sense. All the classic templates for plotting didn’t work well for me because it was either way too many details or not enough. Here’s the process I came up with:

1. Brainstorming: Figuring out what you want to write is important, try coming up with a beginning middle and end to have in sight as you work.

2. Summaries: come up with ideas on what you want to happen either in each chapter(my preference) or in each “act” (the beginning, middle, and end)

3. Outline: Once you know what you want to happen it’s time to figure out HOW it happens. Does the book open with them tripping as they walk? Are they in a small town? Do they run into the love interest now or later? What’s the conversation?
