READ THIS BEFORE YOU VISIT HALLSTATT

Hallstatt has been on my bucket list for the longest time ever and I finally managed to visit it!! Here’s my full itinerary on how you can spend an entire day at Hallstatt.

I arrived very early at Hallstatt (at around 8:30am) because I wanted to avoid the peak period (which starts at around 10am) and enjoy the town at its most peaceful moment. I am so glad I went early because I was able to soak in the scenery before it got noisy when the tour buses came in!

When it started getting crowded, I decided to go for the Hallstatt Saltmine tour (💰: €40/pax, funicular included!)

I had to take a funicular to the salt-mine (the funicular runs in intervals of 15 minutes) but try to get there a bit earlier so you can get a window view!! Up in the Saltmine, I spent about 90 minutes doing the guided tour (which was a really fun experience, we got to go on 2 indoor slides and a tram ride). I spent some time enjoying the view at the Hallstatt skywalk before taking the funicular down.

I ended off the day with dinner before heading home. ❗️A very big disclaimer (which I only found out after arriving in Hallstatt)!! I had already explored the whole of Hallstatt 2 hours after I arrived HAHAHA. It is really a small town and most people can cover it in a half-day trip! But I spent most of my time chilling at a bench watching the swans and up in the salt-mine so it didn’t feel like I had nothing to do/see!! Additionally, most places also only accept cash so do bring enough cash !!
