How to Visit the Gorgeous Salt Flats in Utah

I always saw the gorgeous salt flats out in Bolivia and dreamed of visiting. Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah is as close as I'm going to get for now. It is absolutely stunning and only about a 1.5 hour drive from Salt Lake City. There is no cost to visit, and there was plenty of parking. No matter how many times you visit, you are bound to have a different experience each time. It looks drastically different when its sunny, cloudy, during sunset, etc.

The major thing to consider when planning your visit is the rain. When the salt flats are dry and there is no rain, the ground has a nice earthy feel from the salt and has a beautiful cracked effect. It is also known to be one of the spots where people can drive their cars to the limit out in nature without worrying about speed limits because the land is so flat and spread out. However, after it rains, it creates a reflective effect on the ground, which is absolutely stunning. Driving through this is dangerous, as the water can get pretty deep in some areas.
