Having a cat is a wonderful thing, until...

As a working adult/part-time student, time is very limited. For your context, i work in a 10pm-6pm job in a SME that is very far from my house(1.5hr travel time just to reach my office). You can imagine how long i travel every-week. 😮‍💨

At the age of 20, I adopted Tofu and then Cola during the Covid-19 lockdown period. If i can go back to slap myself and tell myself to not get a pet, trust me i would. PS: Please don't be mistaken, I still love my cat.

However, there are somethings you should consider before getting a pet:

1. DO YOU HAVE TIME? ⌛️

Before getting a cat, i always think that feeding them 2 times a day and leaving out dry food would be good enough. BUT NO. Tofu gets hungry and demands for wet food 4 times a day (7pm, 12pm, 6pm & 12am)! If you don't feed him, he will follow you around and meow until u feed him. This pure devil 👿. If you like to hangout with friends, please rethink this because you have to be responsible and feed your cats. Also, who can help you to take care if your pet when you go overseas? Will they be treated well? Will they be comfortable?🥹

2. DO YOU HAVE MONEY 💸?

During the first 2 weeks of adopting Tofu, he fell sick and we had to bring him to the vet multiple times. As for Cola, she had some hip injuries while playing with herself and we had to bring her to do X-ray and visit the doctor multiple times as well. On top of this, you have to bring your cat for sterilisation, vaccinations and etc. All this cost $$!! Its even more expensive than humans visiting a doctor🥲 Please make sure that you are financially independent and have extra money in case of rainy days🥹

3. DO YOU THINK ITS EASY? 🫠

I use to think that taking care of cats is easy. Idk about other ppl, but thats not the case for me. 😮‍💨

Tofu is a clean freak. Once he uses his toilet, he will push all his litter out of his litter box and meow really LOUDLY to inform us that his litter is dirty. In a sense, he is demanding us to clear his litter. On top of cleaning their litter, you have to wash and change their water and food bowl regularly to keep it clean. Also, cat furs are everywhere. You have a free supply of cat fur on your shirt, sofa, bed, basically anywhere you can think of. Do you want to be cleaning their poop and pee every day? I know they are cute, but are you responsible and committed enough?

With that being said, I still love my cats because my family is their whole world. But do take note that getting a cat is like getting a blind box, except you can choose appearance of the cat but you can't choose it's character and habit. For sure, there are many bad points of having a cat, but they also have their cute and precious moments🥹. Are you ready to stay committed and handle them?
