Shelf decorating tips

There is an art to decorating open shelving and I am going to share some of my favorite tips to achieve a cohesive and intentional design. When I start decorating shelves it can take quite some time. I am constantly rearranging and trying new pieces, swapping things out, etc. It doesn’t usually come together the first try. I will step back, analyze the overall design, and tweak it again and again until it looks right. I love finding unique decor pieces to incorporate into my decor as well. Here I found some really unique stems from Target.

When it comes to styling I recommend doing the following:

Add layers. By this I mean stack items, it could be a larger frame with a smaller one in front of it. Or a couple coffee table books stacked on top of each other. This adds dimension.

Vary items in height. Here I used a taller vase with a smaller object next to it. On the next shelf the print is taller than the other items. Again move things around until it looks right.

Finally, add some type of greenery or floral to a vase. This is always a great way to liven up a space!
